So for the last few days I have been suffering with a cold…spending my days on the couch…NOT knitting…bad.  I have two weeks left (as of today), until my girl’s shower and I’m not even half way done with the projects.  I think I might be doomed.  This happens to me all the time…it’s like the germs know when I have a deadline.  Bad germs…BAD!

Anyway, I’m about half done with the afghan…although I made the unpleasant discovery that my pattern wasn’t long enough and had to be extended.  I’m also working on some washcloths…unfortunately the first washcloth ran into an errant highlighter and well lets just say neither of us was happy.

The result of all this is…this is the weekend of Spider…knitting mania…and no one…or germ…is going to stop me!

First, Bat Monkey needs a new head…he had a bit of a run-in with a glue gun…not pretty.

Meanwhile I’m working feverishly on projects for my bestie’s baby shower…3 projects at once…the shower’s in a month…yes I am insane…

I have a few rules about visiting my office…most of them are never followed so I don’t know why I bother…but one of them is WEAR A BRA…no one wants to see your giant knockers swingin down to your knees.  I have an inordinate amount of bra-less wonders coming in here and quite frankly I’m disgusted.  Especially when they come in bra-less wearing a tank top…my god, do you have ANY dignity at all.  I mean what’s the next step…just no clothes at all?  Damn, I hope I’m not around to see that…

As you, my readers reader, know, I hate people.  People suck.  In my Internet readings, I came across a little nugget, that really set me off.  One of my fellow members of the blogosphere was recently laid off…not surprising in the current economic atmosphere…today she posted that in addition to losing employment, because of certain circumstances with her employer, she CAN NOT get unemployment.  SAY WHAT?!  A hardworking mom, and contributing member of society can’t get unemployment…BUT the low life, lazy ass that just jumped the border can get on welfare and live it up better than most of us.  WTF?!

My conclusion…the American Dream works great…just as long as you’re not a citizen and lazy as hell…

I really hate this shit.  People who abuse their children.  Over the past couple of days, in my daily news readings I have come across several disturbing stories…in just 3 days.  It is alarming and makes me so angry I barely have words.  I am warning you now that these stories are disturbing and downright heartbreaking. 

I am a mother, and I love my son with everything that I am.  And I can not wrap my brain around the idea that someone could look into the sweet face of their own flesh and blood and beat them, in many cases, to death.  I realize that everyone, no matter how evil they are, is entitled to a defense, innocent until proven guilty, but damn, when these defense attorneys open their mouth, I just want to puke.  “Well she just snapped, it was anger out of control”  WHAT!  That’s your fucking defense?  I see so she wasn’t trying to KILL her, she just wanted to beat her up a bit.  This also pisses me off, “I just snapped” So basically what you are saying is that a 2 year old made you sooo angry that your only option was to beat the life out of her? 

Here’s the thing, when you become a parent your sole purpose in life becomes the care, and love of that child.  There are no excuses.  The actions of these so-called parents is indefensible and if there is any justice at all they will meet a horrific fate.

So I read this piece on MSNBC and I just had to post it.  It was just a little blurb in the gossip pages but struck me as stupid, and quite possibly insane…which is why it fits in here perfectly.

Apparently P-Diddy in a effort to show support to the common man and his/her economic plight is going to tone down his use of “bling” and in his words not dress so “flashy” because as he says “why rub it in”

Well hell…thanks Diddy…we little people appreciate your support soo much…and we’re sorry you feel the need to wear less-flashy apparel.  Here are a couple of other ideas…like how about setting up a fund to help people who have lost or are about to lose their homes…or donate all that extra “bling” money to shelters, or food banks…even though I know you’ve already done so much with the whole “de-blinging”

People, let me just say that I have nothing against technology, I’m a computer geek in my own right, and advances in medicine and energy are alright with me.  However, personal technology is just out of control…Blackberries, IPhones, and them goddamned blue tooth ear things really fry my cheese.  Hello?  How about trying a little human contact…go outside get some fresh air.  There are people out there that live and breath by these little gadgets…if they lose it or god forbid it gets broken…they’re lost…I can’t email…I can’t surf the web…I can’t text…here’s an idea…use a phone…a real phone you know with wires…

Some time ago BL and I were in a local eatery having a nice dinner when a couple of youngins came in obviously on a date…they sat down across from one another and proceeded to each whip out cell phones and begin texting…they didn’t even look at each other….WTF?! 

The one thing though that makes me absolutely insane…those damn blue tooth earpieces…are you sooo important that you have to be available at a moment’s notice…are you like what Jack Bauer, waiting for a call from the president.  Take that fucking thing off you look like an idiot.

As I have said before I do not go to locations to shop at holiday time.  The combination of assholes and holiday music is more than I can bear, and well with my sanity perpetually hanging by a thread, it’s just not a good idea.  I was proven right today, sadly, as up in New York, a Walmart employee was trampled to death (allegedly) by a mob of riotous shoppers.  And when the shoppers were asked to vacate the store, as someone had been killed, many refused.  Nice.  Then out in California, 2 people were shot and killed in a Toys r Us.  My God.  Are we all so angry and selfish that we are willing to stampede to get a deal in WalMart?  Seriously, what are these people going to tell the recipients of these gifts.  “Hey man, I stepped over a dead guy for this.”   This shit pisses me off, not only because of it’s blatant asshole-ness, but also it continues to ruin my idea of the holidays.  There is no more holiday cheer, no more good will toward man, in fact as Christmas gets closer and closer, people get angrier and more selfish.  It disgusts me, so much so that I even entertained the idea of going without a tree and decorations this year…basically having an Un-Christmas, but my 4-year old wouldn’t understand, so tomorrow we’re off to chop down the tree, and try to cross a busy street to do so, where the motorists are too selfish and caught up in their own bullshit to stop and allow people to cross, and even try to run down the crossing guard dressed as Santa, all to get to the WalMart before anyone else, and maybe get the opportunity to try and trample another poor soul just trying to make a living.

Ok, now that the election is over…thank God…I can go back to talking about one of my favorite subjects…idiots.  While I am surrounded by them on a daily basis, this comment I heard on the newscast of my local NBC affiliate last night was quite possibly one of the dumbest things I’ve heard in a long time.

They were reporting on how our ilustrious governor is planning on dissolving the turnpike authority, blah, blah, blah…and that “it could be put to a vote as early as Friday…that’s the end of this week” I was momentarily stunned…Friday?  The end of this week?  Wait a minute…HOLY SHIT! Friday is at the end of EVERY week!  If only I had learned that years ago…somewhere around the 1st grade…oh…wait…I DID.  But hey, I’m not one to be ungrateful…so thanks local NBC affiliate for pointing out the blindingly obvious…
