So another project down (sorry, no picture yet, stay tuned for that) and another one begins.  Yet another Red Sox afghan.  They’re piling up like cord wood, as are the future projects.

Last week I found out my bestie Miriam is having a baby girl this winter and I couldn’t be more excited, A. because a little girl is being added to our fold, and B. because I get to knit and crochet some awesome stuff…woo hoo!

So after a week-long vacation it’s back to the salt mines tomorrow…blah.  The knitting marathon I had planned for this week did not turn out as I had planned…and well I don’t have a completed project picture to post…I know…shameful.  However, I do have a picture of the progress so far.  This is a hooded sweater I’m working on for my son’s little friend’s upcoming birthday (by upcoming I mean November, hey gotta start early)  Anyway here it is…check out the Red Sox “B” in relief on the front…classy :)

PS… stay tuned for pictures of our recent trip to the Ecotarium…

Ok, so I’ve been gone for a while.  I guess I really had nothing to say.  My constant posting of what is wrong in the world, or the latest heinous crime that was committed wherever was bringing me down.  I guess I read too much news.  That being said, as you saw in my previous post some time ago I discovered woowork.com and was ecstatic to find this site.  Howie Woo creates some amazing crochet art, and his site is a little piece of happiness for a crochet junkie like me.  His site inspired me to start posting some of my own crochet (and now knit) work on my blog.  However I discovered that inspired does not equal motivated. So we have had a 2+ month dry spell of posting.

At any rate, what this all boils down to is that I am currently wrapping up a couple of projects that I vow to have up here by the end of this week.  I am also going to change the format of the usual drivel I put out to something more upbeat and less angry.  So be prepared to see a lot of my yarn work, and a lot of funny anecdotes about my LB…oh yea, and commentary on the Red Sox…(that might get a little angry)

Sometimes I wonder about stuff…

Posted in: Life in the Fast Lane by Spider on April 29, 2009

… like why it is that most aspects of my life can be boiled down to a Seinfeld quote.

Why my son will devour chicken nuggets, but will not eat cut up pieces of chicken.

Why some people can get tattoos and piercings all over their body, but are terrified by the prospect of a blood draw.

I guess some questions will never be answered

List of weird stuff I saw today

Posted in: Life in the Fast Lane by Spider on April 28, 2009

1. Two birds, in the road…umm…making baby birds…it’s one of those things where you can’t really see what’s happening until you get closer, like hmm what’s going on over there…OH MY GOD!

2. A young lady walking down the street straight out of the 80’s…tight rolled pants, hightops, a denim jacket and a poofy side pony tail…ROCK ON!

3. Lastly, and quite possibly the most puzzling…an elderly gentleman wearing a tee shirt that said…”I love my grandpa”  WHAT?!  Buddy, how OLD is your grandpa…150?

It ain’t funny…

So continuing in my usual theme of people are idiots, have y’all heard about this thing they call “sexting”? Basically America’s youth has taken to sending porn of themselves to each and apparently whoever else might be interested. Nice. In recent news one young lady used the popular MySpace to send something like 30 pornographic pictures of herself to her boyfriend, she is being charged with possession of child pornography…she is 14.

Now there is a feeling out there that this young lady shouldn’t be charged…”she needs help”. I agree, at least about the help part. She should be charged…if convicted she would have to register as a sex offender.

Here’s the problem, from my perspective. These kids, who are the future of this country, the future of mankind, know no consequences. “They can’t send me to jail, I’m just a kid” Well guess what buttercup, if I had MY way you’d be sharing a cell with some pretty scary dudes. They have no respect, none for authority, none for each other, and none for themselves. There’s a war on here, and it’s not a war on drugs, a war on terror…it’s a war on immorality, lack of values, lack of self-respect.

My point? They should have the crap scared out of ‘em, show them that there are real life-changing consequences to their actions, and they WILL go to prison. This is real life kids, not a video game or a movie.

Super Klutz Rides Again!!

Posted in: Life in the Fast Lane by Spider on January 19, 2009

So originally my intention was to blog about Bush’s farewell speech, or about the inauguration.  But instead I bring you the dynamic story of me vs. the cellar stairs.  The stairs won by the way.  So that leaves me sitting here, ice on my poor injured ankle, for 4 days.  And I get to wear this oh so fashionable Robocop inspired boot…soo cool.

YAY foot!

YAY foot!

The economy is saved!!!

Posted in: Insanity at its Best, Life in the Fast Lane by Spider on December 11, 2008

So I read this piece on MSNBC and I just had to post it.  It was just a little blurb in the gossip pages but struck me as stupid, and quite possibly insane…which is why it fits in here perfectly.

Apparently P-Diddy in a effort to show support to the common man and his/her economic plight is going to tone down his use of “bling” and in his words not dress so “flashy” because as he says “why rub it in”

Well hell…thanks Diddy…we little people appreciate your support soo much…and we’re sorry you feel the need to wear less-flashy apparel.  Here are a couple of other ideas…like how about setting up a fund to help people who have lost or are about to lose their homes…or donate all that extra “bling” money to shelters, or food banks…even though I know you’ve already done so much with the whole “de-blinging”

Happy Black Friday everyone!

Posted in: Insanity at its Best, Life in the Fast Lane by Spider on November 28, 2008

As I have said before I do not go to locations to shop at holiday time.  The combination of assholes and holiday music is more than I can bear, and well with my sanity perpetually hanging by a thread, it’s just not a good idea.  I was proven right today, sadly, as up in New York, a Walmart employee was trampled to death (allegedly) by a mob of riotous shoppers.  And when the shoppers were asked to vacate the store, as someone had been killed, many refused.  Nice.  Then out in California, 2 people were shot and killed in a Toys r Us.  My God.  Are we all so angry and selfish that we are willing to stampede to get a deal in WalMart?  Seriously, what are these people going to tell the recipients of these gifts.  “Hey man, I stepped over a dead guy for this.”   This shit pisses me off, not only because of it’s blatant asshole-ness, but also it continues to ruin my idea of the holidays.  There is no more holiday cheer, no more good will toward man, in fact as Christmas gets closer and closer, people get angrier and more selfish.  It disgusts me, so much so that I even entertained the idea of going without a tree and decorations this year…basically having an Un-Christmas, but my 4-year old wouldn’t understand, so tomorrow we’re off to chop down the tree, and try to cross a busy street to do so, where the motorists are too selfish and caught up in their own bullshit to stop and allow people to cross, and even try to run down the crossing guard dressed as Santa, all to get to the WalMart before anyone else, and maybe get the opportunity to try and trample another poor soul just trying to make a living.

Ok, so this morning I made my usual weekend trip to Wally World. It’s not too bad early on a Sunday morning. Now bear in mind, today is Nov. 2, just a day after Halloween…I enter the store to find all the Halloween spangle gone, replaced by Christmas trees and the like…but the most offensive of this was the music…Christmas music.  Now correct me if I’m wrong but I can remember a day when the holiday tunes didn’t start until after Thanksgiving…it’s freakin’ Halloween.  Is this like a black hole that’s just going to continue to expand until we hear and see this crap all year long?  Dear God!

Now don’t get me wrong, I love the holidays just as much as the next guy who hates human interaction and thinks everyone is an idiot.  It just seems that this time of year brings out the real morons.  The holiday season is supposed to be a time of good cheer, giving and kindness (or so I am told)…but to me it only brings the assholes in people out.  And when you combine the elements of morons/assholes, Walmart, Christmas music, and me all in the same place, at the same time…remember when Peter went nuclear on Heroes…yea…something like that…
