WBC: World Baseball Catastrophy
Posted in: Ninja Squirrels and Other Oddities, Red Sox...not for the faint of heart... by Spider on March 20, 2009
What the hell is up with this WBC. Aside from being a veritable pro-ballplayer injury factory, it also supplied a fairly freakish upset….the Dominican Republic (the ballplayer supplier of the universe) is beaten by The Netherlands…THE NETHERLANDS! What sports are the Netherlands famous for? The luge?
I think someone somewhere got this idea…hmm, in the off-season lets have this big baseball tournament, invite all these ballplayers from around the world…and not just any players, the best ones. And then beat the holy hell out of ‘em, and finish up just in time to send their injured asses back for the start of baseball season…we’ll call it…the World Baseball Classic…
Oddly enough it seems some injuries don’t even happen during the game, but during the post game celebrations…take it easy there Youk!
Buch-who?

Well Buchholtz is back from wherever they sent him. Supposedly with his confidence back. This guy makes me nervous…anyone remember last season? He was bad…no strike that, he raised “bad” to an art form. Now don’t get me wrong, I felt bad for the guy, who in every game he pitched got shellacked…but we have games to win, and as I have told Supe a number of times “nice guys don’t win ballgames” At any rate, I sincerely hope Bucky is back on his game and has a good season…God willing…

Also ever notice how he kinda looks like Fire Marshall Bill? Just sayin’
What the…?!

The Red Sox have some interesting ideas when it comes to calisthenics.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, what do we do we swim, swim.
Sweet Fancy Moses!

Do you smell that? Go ahead, go outside and take in a good whiff. What is that? That my friends is the smell of Baseball…Spring Training to be exact. No I don’t mean a bunch of sweaty guys…I mean spring is around the corner. My beloved Red Sox took a full squad workout today, which if solely judged by this picture it looks more like try-outs for A Chorus Line.

In all seriousness…ok not ALL seriousness…I love my Sox, and I think 2009 is going to be an awesome year. We got some interesting new talent, Tek is back where he belongs, Lowell is ready for action. Are you excited? I’m excited.
Now I’m just going to sit back and enjoy some Spring Training games and pretend I’m warm and toasty in FL.
A simple question…

When did Bon Jovi become the official band of Major League Baseball?…just askin…
So how about them Sox…I know it’s just the first game, and well they just about squeaked by, but hell, a win is a win. Right? One down and 3 to go…beat up them Rays guys!
